Jerry's Kids, usually plays as Team Margo

Tuesday night at the Big Apple (in Fort Worth, not New York), several teams showed up to participate in the week’s hottest new form of entertainment. No, I’m not talking about bridge night at the River Bottom Pub, or Old Maid night at the VFW. I’m talking about Buzzwordz Trivia!

At one point in the night, I overheard one of the players on his phone describing the trivia to a friend; he kept repeating himself since it was very loud in the bar, or possibly his friend is 98 years old and/or deaf. This is what I heard of the conversation….
“Dude, I’m up here playing trivia…… Trivia…….. Trivia…….Buzzwordz Trivia……I’m playing Buzzwordz Trivia, B!T*#! Get your @ss up here and play!!”  With such a level of enthusiasm from the crowd, it was obvious that I was in for a great night of trivia, and they had come to play.

Team Ba Donk-a-Donk. So its not really what you would expect. I think this picture is much more aesthetically pleasing. I hope you agree.

Some regulars and a few n00Bs joined up, including Team HELP!which was brought in by one of the Big Apple Bartenders. After speaking with them for a few minutes, it was clear to me that this couple wasn’t foolin’ around when it came to trivia. Confessed NTN trivia junkies, they were pleased to be able to see their competition in the form of teams across the bar. The opening round saw three teams trading punches(not literally) and swapping places on the leaderboard after almost every question. The round ended with a three way tie between Team HELP!, team Ba Donk-a-Donk and Team RamRod(read: Car RamRod). The trivia veterans didn’t disappoint and gave me the closest guess for “The day the music died” and claimed the opening round prize.

Over the remaining two rounds, the true battle was for second place. With Team HELP! putting on a clinic with their overwhelming trivia prowess, teams Ba Donk-a-Donk and the Big Apple Bros (winners from week 1 at the Big Apple) began a heated battle for the gift certificate given to second place. In true dramatic fashion, the game ended with a tie for second place. Team Ba Donk-a-Donk embraced their chance to shine with their close guess of 150 for the number of episodes of the TV classic, Mr. Ed.

Team HELP! needed no help Tuesday night at the Big Apple.

Congratulations to Team HELP! and Ba Donk-a-Donk for their victories. I hope to see you all again next Tuesday!

I swear this is what comes up if you do a Google Images search for Big Apple Bros.
