After a brief absence, several sleepless nights, and countless Jaeger bombs, Buzzwordz Trivia has made her triumphant return to Texas. With ten teams to start the game, a great bar to host the presentation (II Brothers Bar & Grill), and Adam & Armen at the helm, it was time to play some Buzzwordz Trivia!

Round 1 got off to a tremendous start for all the teams with correct answers being spat out at a rate that would make a llama envious. Unfortunately though, Team TC-77 died of dysentery on the Oregon Trail, which ,according to his team, began in California. After an unfortunate shout-out answer regarding JFK Jr’s magazine, George, order was re-established and the game continued. Amazingly, the State Fair of Texas (held each year in Dallas), is not as popular with the locals as I would have imagined as some contestants guessed Cotton Candy as Fletcher’s famous invention. At the end of the first round, we had finished with a 4-way tie for the lead with 7 points (The Franchise, The Tigers, Darkside, and Wine & Dine). With a guess of 42 varsity sports at The Ohio State University, the Darkside conquered the opening round.

Storming through Round 2, it became clear that no one has ever heard of Voltaire (nor Candide), and quote possibly, most players spend their free time watching Brady Bunch reruns while drinking Manhattans. Who am I to judge? Perhaps the Brady’s shared a philosophy of blind optimism with Candide when they were telling everyone to “Keep On” or enjoy the “Sunshine Day“.  Running away with a Round 2 victory (14 points for the round) was team Wine & Dine.

Call it peer pressure. Call it jealousy. Call it envy. No matter how you want to spin it, by the start of the third and final round, every patron in the bar was fully immersed in the gospel of Buzzwordz Trivia. With such a captivated audience, we pressed on to the final round of the night.

Round 3 proved to be the most intense round of the night in that once again, all teams stormed out of the gates with correct answer after correct answer. The crowd of obvious southerners (save our friends visiting from southern Indiana) hit a brick wall when it comes to Canadian capital cities. Rebounding nicely with a clean sweep of U.S. lizard trivia, the Strokes & the Darkside were setting up for a fight to the finish. This rivalry would not disappoint as after an epic battle, the night belonged to the Darkside with their superior knowledge of Taco Bell’s daily production.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and be sure to bring your friends next week so your team can take down the Darkside!
