Luck the Fakers - but no luck tonite

If I just reported the winners tonite, you’d have no idea how close each and every round was.  It was an unbelievably tight match til the bitter end.

We started with 12 teams but it was apparent that: JWK, Charles and Beer Me were only going  to be casual players, only answering when the mood strikes.

But everyone else was there for the win.  And when the dust settled from round 1, Hans & Co had won.  But Swagger and Pike Masters were only 1/2 point back with Sexy Pirates, Luck the Fakers, School’s Out, Bacon8rs and Buff Gold just a step behind that.

Sexy Pirates who had supplied 6 style point answers in round 1 took off, along with Ball n Chain and JWK. That’s What I Like About The South (TWILATS) joined in.

Again it was a dogfight. But Hans & Co and Luck the Fakers tied in round 2.  Hans again was not to be denied, much to the dismay of Fakers. And again we had teams close on their heels; Pike Masters just 1/2 point back and TWILATS 1 point back.

This time we lost School’s Out, Bacon8rs, Charles and Beer Me, but picked up Fishsticks.

And with a groan, the Bonus Beer Question went to… Hans & Co.  On the plus side, they had had their fill so they distributed it to the bar.

So heading into the last round, you knew it was going to be tight, and everyone hoped Hans wouldn’t clean up.  And as it turned out, there was another tie for round 3, but Hans wasn’t one of them.  Both Pike Masters and Fishsticks fought over the tie-break question with Fishsticks winning.  But their was redemption for Pike Masters who lost round 1 by 1/2 point and round 2 by 1/2 point and round 3 in a tie-break… they had second highest points for the evening and so ended with a prize.  Hans, of course, had top points.  Luck the Fakers took a dive in round 3 and didn’t end up with anything and TWILATS were just off pace.  Fishsticks say they need  to remember that trivia starts at 8… and that could have changed everything since every round was soooo cloooose.

So I’ll see you all next week for another neck-and-neck race to the finish?

Ciao for now,

– Keith
