Well, so much for thinking the turnout between Christmas and New Years would be minimal.  We had plenty of teams and all were prepared to duke it out over a batch of trivia.

We had two tie-breaks and very little point difference between all the teams the entire evening.

First round with 9 teams and only a 2.5 point difference between first and last.  First round provided our first tie-break – this one between Team Catz and Meet the Fockers.  Catz won that one.

For round 2, we lost Wisconsin Nymphomaniacs but picked up Sweet N Sour and Bailey Woozles.  Again a clump of teams, eight this time all within 2.5 points of each other.  The Goats won this round cleanly though.  Shout out to Popes of Chili Town who came in second, and had made it out from the OC in Thornton.

Two rounds were enough for Murdoch’s Fan Club, but that still left us with nine teams to finish the evening.

Round 3 ended with another tie-break. This one between The Goats and Sibling Rivalry. Not exactly sure why, but SR abdicated the tie-break to the Goats giving them their 2nd – and 3rd win for most points overall.  They took home all the big prizes.

For most everyone else it was a night of struggles. Meet the Fockers had a tough night losing the first tie break and ending 2nd in round 3 and with secondmost  points overall.  Bailey Woozles were playing strong but by showing up partway through round 2, basically eliminated themselves from the competition.  Keepers of the Flame had the same problem – the majority of their team did not make it until the 3rd round. By then it was too late.  Sweet N Sour could have been in the hunt if only they had gotten their earlier.  And Iron Maiden Rules had another off-night.  As the evening wore on, their performance dropped. And we usually expect them to be the team to beat.

Still the competition was fun. It was a more serious night of game players with relatively few style points awarded.  I love seeing everyone ‘in it to win it’.   And hope to see many of you in the New Year!

Ciao for now,

– Keith
