Well well well…the night ended the same, but certainly didn’t start that way!  Our friends, 99 bananas, were back to challenge the Monkees but neither team took down round one!  Round one went to second-timers, Go Team!  We won’t mention the stunning fall in the standings that Go Team suffered after their free beer…because for one round, they were CHAMPIONS!

There were familiar names winning rounds 2 and 3 though.  99 bananas had a big round and took down the free beer and had the lead going into round 3 but they couldn’t hold off the hard-charging Monkees who grabbed round 3 and the win for the night!!!

Good to see everyone, I’ll be back in two weeks (as I’m out of town for some work this coming Tuesday) but fret not, Buzzwordz will be left in the able hands of one Mr. Tobin Hays for next week!  Catch y’all later kids!

Well boys and girls, it was bound to happen sooner or later right?  We had a clean sweep of all three rounds and (of course) the whole night!  And it went to…THE MONKEES!  Nice job again guys.  99 bananas was back and (almost) in full force, but couldn’t come back from a slow start in round 1 and again in round 3.

It was great seeing some new faces out on Tuesday!  Big shout out to Go Team (best team name ever)!  Hope to see y’all next week to claim the beer I owe ya!

Well…no Monkees, no 99 bananas…I don’t know what to write about…I’ll have to wing it I suppose. :)

Even without those two stalwarts, we had a great crowd rockin’ it out on Tuesday.  (and by rockin’ it out, did y’all catch the MC Hammer jam?  That’s right…MC HAMMER.  ROCK.)  With the Monkees out of the way, someone had to win the first two rounds…and they both went to newcomers!  The Half J’s took down round one by outlasting Mantastic, wolfpanthers and Equipo FerrozEquipo made short work of round 2 and had a big lead going into round 3…but the wolfpanthers stormed from behind to take down the round and the night!

Great night folks!  And see y’all next week!!

Stop me if you’ve heard this before…the Monkees race out to easy wins in rounds 1 and 2, then hold on for the win while the 99 bananas grab the 3rd round.  Is this seriously what happens every week now?

I’m getting tired of typing that…so I’m challenging SOMEONE to knock off the Monkees in rounds 1 or 2 next time.  Someone, anyone…for the love of God…if these guys get any more free beer their wives might leave them.  No seriously.  Leave them.  For dumber guys that won’t spend every Tuesday night drinking free beer.  …wait, maybe they should be thankful that the beer is free and stop griping. :)

Anywhos, Old Chicago is closed for Christmas next Tuesday so y’all have a safe one and we’ll see you on New Years Night!

Greetings trivia fiends.  Even though we missed our good friends the 99 bananas, trivia went on and ended in a familiar fashion.

The Monkees eeked out a win in round 1, then stormed to a big win in round 2 and built a big overall lead…then they got complacent and almost lost out to a new comer.  Mike Vick’s Cell Mate came out of nowhere to grab a huge win in round 3 and almost caught the Monkees but ended up a point short in their furious comeback.   There’s always next time guys!   As for the Monkees…they just keep churning out wins like the Patriots.

See y’all on Tuesday!

Crowd was great, things were going swimmingly through the first round…then BAM.  Someone trips over the mic cord and the whole thing comes unraveled…well, except for that unraveled part!  Y’all were great!  Thanks for playing along even without my annoying commentary!

Without further ado, we’ll get to how the night went down.  First round went to newbies, Mad Joe Disease, as they took the tie-breaker away from the Monkees!  In the second round, the Monkees had just enough to take down the bucket of beer from MJD.  Round 3 saw our friends the 99 bananas storm away to an easy round win, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Monkees as they won the night and took home the gold!

See y’all next week!

Well…we’ve all read this before…and I’ve typed this before…but the trivia night at Old C’s downtown came down to the Monkees and the 99 bananas…again. Stop me if you don’t want to hear the rest…

…ok, I guess I’ll tell you anyways. 99 bananas swept the rounds and won the whole shebang too. The Monkees were right there in round 1 (lost by 1) and round 2 (went to a tie-breaker) but couldn’t keep pace in the final round.

Nice to see some new faces there the past few weeks!! Keep it up! See y’all next week!

Familiar refrain at Old Chicago on Tuesday…top two teams this week were the same as the last couple of weeks, The Monkees and 99 bananas! The first round actually ended in a tie between these two teams, even though I erroneously awarded the round to 99 bananas…but The Monkees got their beer too, so it all worked out. After that, it was all 99 bananas as they took down rounds 2 and 3 and (obviously) the night! Great job guys! Also with a solid showing on the night, but finishing just out of the beer, was LHS. Next time guys!

Great night as usual at Old C’s! Thanks for coming out each and every week!

The day after the Rockies made their triumphant return to Post-Season play, in epic fashion I might add, Denver was a little sleepy…but that’s to be expected.  Old C’s was still a good time!

Storming out with a near perfect first round, The Monkees, took the early lead…but that lead wasn’t going to last.  Rounds 2 and 3, and ultimately the night, belonged to 99 bananas!  These two teams went back and forth, but the crazy guys at the front of the bar edged ahead to reclaim their crown!  Also having strong nights were the Eagles and Bartender (try to guess who that is…).

Great night Tuesday!  See y’all next week!

It was the best of times…umm…it was the best of times!  After a rousing night of trivia, the Rox made it better and pulled even with the Phils and stayed within 1 of the Padres…hopefully next week I’ll be trying to run trivia with playoff baseball going on in the background!!!

Another great night…multiple new teams and tons of players!  Thanks for coming out guys!!!  The first round was taken down by one of those newcomers, as Damage Control outlasted the field to take it down.  Round 2…more of the same.  Damage Control wreaking havoc and keeping mainstays, 99 bananas and The Monkees at bay!  But round 3, and ultimately the night, belonged, once again, to The MonkeesDamage Control did hang on to take 2nd and 99 bananas capped a late charge to finish third!  Great night guys!  See y’all next week!

WOW.  GREAT CROWD GUYS!!  Record number of teams and players on Tuesday!  Awesome job!!  I had a blast calling it and I hope y’all had a blast playing!

We got off to a roaring start with The Monkees and The Mom Rockers tying for the first round win (because I couldn’t come up with anymore tie-breakers on the spot, sorry!!!)…then, after a middle-of-the-pack showing in the first round, The Visitors posted a strong second round to take the coveted bucket of beer.  The third round, and ultimately the night, belonged to Xspire!  They threw up a PERFECT SCORE in round three to storm from behind and take the night!

Thanks to everyone for coming out!  And can’t wait to do it again next week!

Through 2 rounds, all was right in the Old Chicago Trivia Universe…The top two teams on the night were The Monkees and 99 bananas and they seemed destined for a shootout for the title…but no one told Bushwood Country Club!

Out of nowhere, BCC stepped up and knocked the 3rd round outta the park for a storm from behind win!  Great job guys!!  Looks like the former top dogs now have a 3rd team to contend with…

Nice to see Mike of the WOLVERINES! make a return to trivia, even if he had to have help to get his score into the double digits. :)

Hey guys, ‘nother great night at Old C’s!  Back to defend their crown was The Monkees…with the ever present 99 bananas trying to regain their title, even though one of originals members was sent off for the week with a red card (for those that don’t know soccer jargon, that means they were playing a man down. :))

In the end, it wasn’t enough…The Monkees prevailed for the second straight week, leaving 99 bananas to lick their wounds and re-group and try again next week!

See y’all Tuesday!!

Switching the start time to 7 instead of 6 apparently was a good thing! Largest crowd we’ve had so far! THANKS GUYS!

Defending champions, 99 bananas, had a good 2nd place showing despite missing half of their normal team! But this night belonged to The Monkees! They won each round en route to a runaway win for the night! …I guess it’s appropriate that it took a team named The Monkees to put an end to the reign of the bananas. :)

See y’all next week at 7!!

This is beginning to be a broken record, but 99 bananas took down the title again on Tuesday. If they win again, I’m just going to copy and paste this entry for next week.

Gotta give a shout out to Wolverines for coming in solo second place all by his lonesome. And I believe that he set the record for being in the most tie-breakers as he was involved in a tie at the end of EVERY round one way or the other. Good work, my friend.

REMINDER: NEXT WEEK (AND FROM HERE ON OUT) WE’RE STARTING AT 7:00 INSTEAD OF 6!! SO JOIN US AN HOUR LATER BEGINNING NEXT WEEK!!!!

Outstanding crowd on Tuesday night! Thanks guys for making my job a fun one!

The whole night came down to a tie-breaker in the third round involving 3 teams…in one corner, Bangers and Mash looking to steal the night and the round win after showing up late…in another corner, returners 99 Bananas trying to take the victory …and in the other corner, Thor was looking for a round and over-all win.

99 Bananas ended up taking down the crown for the night while Thor edged out Bangers and Mash for the 3rd round win…but no one walked away empty handed! Like I said, it was a great night and can’t wait to see y’all next Tuesday!

I’m proud to announce that more people joined me to play trivia than to watch that monstrosity of an event that is the once proud Major League Baseball All-Star game!

But in similar fashion to this years All-Star game, trivia came down to the wire with The Killers edging TDH in a tiebreaker for the win! High round for the night went to The Late Guys…who, like their name suggests, were late entries and only played the final round and put up a fantastic 24 points! Great work!! Try being the Not-So-Late Guys next week and take down the whole thing.

Also like to give a shout out to Johnny 5 who played the whole game solo and came within a point of taking down Round 2! Way to go!

Catch y’all next Tuesday!
