I’m not going to lie, I was a little sad that I had to work tonight because I got about 5 offers for free tickets to the Rockies Game tonight.  Normally who cares if I miss a game, right?  But the Indians are in town!  Again, who cares- right?  Well people- ME!  I care!  Go Tribe! 

Anyhow, I ended up not really caring that much as the Rockies kicked Cleveland’s arses.  10-2.  Must be the altitude.   Indeed, I am glad I came to work and made money instead of spending about a hundred thousand dollars at the ball park. 

Well enough about me, let’s talk winners! 

First of all if you got a prize, thank your lucky stars!  Silly ol’ me couldn’t find the gift certificates when it came to prize giving time.  I suspected perhaps they fell out of my pocket when I took a trip to the powder room.  (to powder my nose of course, as ladies don’t actually produce waste or have any sort of bodily functions or anything of that nature).   Anyhow, the gods were smiling down upon you people, they were just lying on the floor!  It even looked like someone was checking them out and decided just to leave them there!   AWESOME!!!!

So Epitome of Hyperbole- you my friends are the first in line to say thanks Barb for being careless with our prize and dropping it on the floor.  Sorry guys.  I would have figured something out if things didn’t turn out the way they did. 

Stumpy-  I wonder where this name comes from.  You always seem stumped when you come up with the right answer, which is strange to me because you usually do come up with the right answer!  Second place, nice work!

Ace and George-  Well I finally figured out where this name comes from, after about the 4th time you told me.  I’ll tell upstate New York you said hi Georgie. 

W.a.i.t Divide and Conquer- That was your name this week right?  I couldn’t find the paper that had your correct name on it anywhere.   How much longer do I get to see your smiling faces at trivia?  Antarctica trip is when exactly?

Well folks, have a great week!  I will be touring parts of the midwest/east that are not currently submerged in a special blend of hydrogen and oxygen next week, so I will not see y’all until July!  Happy June!

Now you guys know I am pretty lenient when it comes to giving you guys credit for your answers.  I must confess that I feel like a little bit of a sell out right about now as I feel passionately about processed cheese.  Sad but true.  It really has to do more with the obsession with hot pretzels I have developed throughout the years, and nothing goes better with a hot pretzel than some good processed cheese, like oh say CHEEZ WHIZ!  NOT I reapeat NOT- EZ CHEESE!!!!!  Totally different thing people- TOTALLY different thing.   But of course I buckled under pressure when you put up your unified front and chanted Cheez Whiz.  I’m so ashamed. 

So I was thinking one of you could maybe make it up to me by buying me a new computer or something so we can start on time.  I think that’s only fair. 

How about you Baked Mac and Cheese?  You have cheese in your name, you should know better than anyone there is a difference.  And you keep coming in first place winning those gift certificates, so you probably have some extra cash laying around.

2nd Gear Gespato- So nice detective work trying to guess my exact birthday for the tie breaker.  The me getting married to Ricky Schroeder must have tipped you off.  I still can’t believe you guessed my due date, which put you in second place!  Fantastic!

Team Antarctica- All I have to say that the severed head/rastafarian/eyes bugging out balloon that kept handing me your answers was very creeepy:)  And don’t leave before you get your gift certificate next time!!  Glad I caught you on the way out,  nice work!

85 degrees in the middle of April, I don’t think anything could make this day better… Oh wait there is something,  Buzzwords Trivia Night at the Lakewood Old Chicago!  We are heading into our third week and looking forward to moving out to the patio, and although we didn’t think it possible,  Tuesdays are even more fun at 1st and Union!

Such a nice finish to a great night of trivia with a walk-off homer by my favorite player, Todd Helton!  Thanks for that, Todd!!  It was also a nice night for the Fighting Trout who dominated the entire game winning all three rounds and hence, the overall prize.  This was despite some excellent competition from the returning Itches and Os and the new team Rum.  It was good to be back with everyone this week and thanks so much for coming out each week guys, you’re the best!!

Hey there -

Thanks to David for filling in for me at Jillian’s this week.  All went fairly smoothly and I really appreciate that!

Fighting Trout returned to dominance but only by a few points this week over the new Bearded Trout.  The Rejects gave it a good try, and the Bearded Geckos were at least in the room to attempt to offer some additional competition.  Let’s get a few more teams to make it regularly and this will be such a great night!

Wish I had more to say, but I wasn’t there - next week we will be back to normal!

We had new blood Tuesday night and it sure made for some great competition with the (until now) total domination of the Fighting Trout!  Ranker and Trout decided to merge to take on the challenge loudly proclaimed by newcomers Itches and Os and were holding their own until part of the Trout split off to create the Fighting Salmon with late arrivals.  Get there on time next time people!  I will make it worth your while. 

Team Jesse came late as well, so they were unable to really have a chance at prizes, but there is always next Tuesday so I hope to see you again!  Salmon managed to win the third round, with authority, I might add, but it was too little, too late and Itches and Os came away with everything else this time.  

I’m looking forward to the rematch!  Even though I will not be there next week, another great host will be there to keep the rivalry going until I can see you all again in two weeks!  Thanks so much for coming out each week - you guys are great and we are going to keep growing!!

We had a whopping one team. Kudos to them for sticking around for all three rounds and enthusiastically answering questions. This week we’re going to try something a little different. BINGO was his name-o. That’s right, we’re going to play some bingo.

Huge thanks to my two returning teams from week one: Ranker and Fighting Trout!  Ranker was unstoppable in rounds one and two winning BOTH tiebreakers - and we had a three way tie including newcomers Wild & Wilder in round two.   Kyle the Cuban Bartender made the night a lot more fun by surprising all of us with his vast trivia knowledge, but he wasn’t allowed to win anything (good thing for everyone but him!)   I promise we will not do Stump the Bartender on Sports questions, ever again!  Despite the early dominance from Ranker, Fighting Trout came back with a vengeance and killed round three and took the overall win.  

Still great specials each week only for trivia players at Jillian’s - be sure to check us out every Tuesday night at 8 pm!!

Well, things went better this week. I didn’t spend the entire time thinking about drinking a bucket of Clorox or other ways to kill myself because some people actually played. The first round started off with a field off with a field of five teams. Buck beat Kiss My Ass and Purple Monkey each by one point in the first round. Second round went to Kiss My Ass who dominated the competition. The third round went to Purple Monkey who also won the game by one point aga

Well, one could argue that the 3-pt Chicago Cubs question was the determining factor between ranking team…. I guess it pays to know a thing or two about the greatest team in baseball (or, at least, your host’s favorite team in ALL SPORTS of ALL TIME!).

Job well done by all who played; truly not a bad team in the house!  For our Top 3 tonight, we fun Heifers on the Half-shell, our winners from last week, dropping two spots to 3rd place…. still not a bad finish!  The “staff” team, Emily’s Birthday, Y’all, nabbed 2nd but didn’t quite have enough to trump The Alchemist(s), who dominated the entire game.   A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY Emily, glad you spent it with Buzzwordz!

First time greetings! 

Thanks to all of you who took a chance and played the very first night of trivia at Jillian’s!  Talk about great staff and management - this is the place to play each week.  Every question they gave out free shots, free pitchers of beer for teams that won a round PLUS a $25 gift certificate, and the overall winning team gets a $50 gift certificate.  Oh, by the way, just for playing, you get a $10 game card FREE.  It was madness - in a great way!  So, plan on joining us next Tuesday night at 8 pm for the best incentives in town!!

Four teams emerged last night and quickly learned how the game is played - Ranker started out strong, winning the first round, but Last Place came out of nowhere in the second round and took that round plus the overall lead.  The Flames hung in there and made things interesting for me with some crazy answers, but no one could match the dominance of the Fighting Trout in the final round, they not only took the 3rd but they took the top prize and couldn’t believe all the prizes they got just for playing FREE TRIVIA!  

 We all had a great time and I can’t wait for next Tuesday at Jillian’s!  See you there!!

Buzzwordz Trivia will be hitting the HUGENESS that is Jillian’s, starting Tuesday, August 21st.We start up at 8:00 PM, with plenty of specials and prizes. It’s a great place to go if you’ve got young ‘uns. There are tons of video games, bowling, billiards…think Disney World without armbands.14500 W Colfax Ave

J&K Connection vs. The Home Team, battle royal. Bang, first round went to J&K Connection as they snuffed out the competition with 33.3% more points than The Home Team (3 to 2). The Home Team turned the tables in the second round winning 8 to 5 against their worthy advisary. The Home Team continued their reign of terror in round three and won 16 to 14. In the end The Home Team won 26 to 22 against J&K Connection. Who knows what will happen next week.

The Cordial Lounge is  just inside of Lakewood on Colfax and has great food and $1.75 High Life bottles, what more can you ask for?

This event is keeping a steady momentum. Last night we had four teams battling it out. Team Gusto was able to defeat Team Dum & Dummer, Buck’s Bastards and Jim in the first round. The drinks they won must have been strong because in the second round Dum & Dummer climbed to the top spot, they kept their momentum too because they ended up taking the third round as well. In the end it was Dum & Dummer, Gusto, Bastards and Jim.

Hopefully next week we can kick it up a notch and start off August at the CL on a high note.

This is a rapidly growing event, we more than doubled last weeks turnout. Numerically it was not a high number but from a business standpoint it can’t be ignored. Hopefully the trend will continue. The first round ended in a three way tie between Team Dum & Dummer, The Snickers and RJ. RJ ended up taking the tie-breaker to win and was rewarded with Tequila. In the second round the Big Booty Hoes came on strong and easily beat their next closest competitor by three points. In the third round Big Booty Hoes continued their reign and blew away the competition. In the end it was Big Booty Hoes, Snickers and Dum & Dummer.

Our first night at the CL was limited but fun. I will say this, it was my first time as an M.C. where every single customer participated. I can only hope for that kind of ratio next week, albeit with more people. The questions proved to be challenging for our first night. The Too Stupids wound up in a tie with Team One in round one but ended up getting the tie breaker, Team Two was only one point behind. The Too Stupids slowed down in round two and never really recovered, Team One took the round. The third round was one for the history books as Team Two rallied from behind and overtook their two competitors for a third round and game win. Team One came in second and the Too Stupids came in third (aka LAST).

Second time around with the Cordial Lounge.  Grand total of players was a whoppin’ 2!  But two teams still means there can be some competition!

Round 1 belonged to Team Beer, with I Work Here a distant second.  Round 2 was pretty much the same story for both teams, but there was an upset in Round 3!  I Work Here walked away the victor,  Team Beer stillwas a strong and close second.
