Downtown Tavern - Night of the Living Dead September 12, 2007

Boy, that was a strange night.
Thanks to all of you for waiting out the technical problems. With the late start, we had some good teams to fight it out. Considering trivia players were the only ones in the entire bar, it made for a very quiet night.
But we still had some fun.
Jason wasn’t feeling the funny name vibe, but he and Rockies Win! stuck it out as individuals. It was kind of a rough first couple of rounds for individuals…so get your friends out with you!
In third place were our good friends and dead-on with their name: What Idiot Chooses the Music? Britney Beers eeked out second place by one point.
But the champs, winning all three rounds, were our corner-booth regulars, Delorean the Valedictorian! Fantastic job with a great score, and 30 bucks in gift certificates for their efforts.
Thanks everyone for coming out. Let’s see if we can get a bigger crowd next week, and I’ll try to do a better job at being funny. Just kidding…I don’t know if that’s possible.

No one said trivia is easy, but this was ridiculous!
When I first saw the trivia questions, I honestly thought this was going to be one of our highest scoring games ever. I was covinced that I would be walking out with record scores.
BZZZT! Wrong!
This turned into the trivia equivalent of Mike Tyson facing off against Hal Sparks…with no gloves.
But our teams took it in stride as an anomoly, and stuck out the carnage to the end. Pat McGroin hung in by the tips of their fingernails to take third prize. Face Plant, aptly named for the brutality of round one, managed a second place victory.
But fighting through it all for a resounding victory was I’ll Be at Shotgun Willie’s Across from Breast Park.
Thanks again, everyone, for making it out last night. We’ll see you next week, and we’ll see if we can keep you from pounding your head on the bar.

I love a good night of politically incorrect team names. It just adds a little something to the score updates, and maybe even produces a few gasps.
We had a fantastic turnout last night. Maybe we are off the schneid and back to our normal bad selves.
The ladies of Lovely hung in there all night, and had a strong third round…thanks for playing, girls! The Lawn Wranglers and Jason put up great fights, and Amy T saw past their birthday shots to give a serious run at the prizes. Amy T is back after a week or two hiatus. Good to see a strong team back in the mix!
But taking third place with a very consistent night was Michael Vick’s Puppy Chow. They were just two points behind first place, which was a tie between She Had a Sexy Thorax and…..and now for the name of the night, Tee Ball Stand Pitches Perfect Game at Special Olympics. With the always heart-stopping tie-breaker question, Thorax shot high on their Google price and won it out.
Thank you every one for making it out, especially on a tough parking night during a ball game. It makes my night more enjoyable when I see my crew out there. At least now we have drink specials!

I understand that we had a couple of cancellations, I understand that I am a lousy host….but c’mon!
I want my teams back!
With that said, the perrenial powers, and name changing team It Burns When I Pee took top honors last night. You see a doctor about that. Make sure that the physical is on the up and up. They are not supposed to jiggle them….trust me, I learned the hard way.
Devon’s Girls/Bitch Smells Like Pickels put up a good fight. But ultimaetey they could not overcome the birthday shots and not-so-birthday-ish questions. That’s OK. No shame in second….except for the shame.
One note of advice to that team: if your bitch does indeed smell like pickles, you only have to save your receipt and 500 more S&H green stamps and you can exchange her for a new bitch.
The staff tried to keep up, and even though the Doormen were slammed all night, they pulled an impressive third.
I love the DT Tavern. Can I get some love back?

It was a bit low on teams, but we still managed to have a fun trivia night at the Tavern.
The top three teams were all neck and neck after the first round, but Down With Management pulled a doozy of a second round to take the top prize! Despite the late start, we had enough to get the night rolling, as Whit-less kept DWN honest, taking second place overall.
Newcomers and trivia fanatics Team Anonymous hung in there for third place. I think we may have some new regulars!
Thank you everyone for coming out for the night. We’ll see you next week!

Another last-minute cancellation.
Again my apologies for the lack of notice for the cancelled show last night. I even had a firworks show arranged for last night’s trivia!
I promise that this will not happen again. I hope to see everyone next week!

After a one week hiatus, we were back in full force. And what a night it was! Two separate teams set all-time records for game totals! Ouch! I guess I am going too easy on you guys.
In game one, The Dead Horse could not be beaten as they cruised past the a team of what I believe was around 50 Texas school teachers, known as the Hutto Hippos, to take the $60 first place in gift certificates.
In game two, I predicted that we could have a perfect score, and sure enough, we did! Our very first ever perfect score was notched by The Penis Mightier, who struggled a little bit with the last question, the dark purple properties on the Monopoly board. But they worked it out, drawing cheers and applause from the entire audience. Congratulations!
A great split of winners last night, and we’ll see if we can match the general awesomeness of the teams next week!

Well…..crap! I sure hate spending a ton of time writing a full week of trivia, then getting cancelled an hour in advance.
My apologies if you made it out last night. Hopefully, you still had a good time if you did.
Therefore, the only team winner last night was Team Colorado Rockies, who took the Yanks down 3-1!
We’ll see everyone next week.

Well, well, well. We certainly had a great showing last night. The Stop Shorts turned in an impressive performance, even suprising themselves, taking first place in game one. Unfortunately, I threw away my score sheet, so I can’t give a shout-out to the rest. That seems about par for the course last night, as a few of the answeres were….ummmm….wrong. Sorry ’bout that. I guess it just means I am going to have to stop writing trivia while high on PCP and cough syrup.
We had twelve teams duking it out, and we got a little more R-rated than normal, but then again, that makes it more fun! I didn’t even feel bad that noone but the manager laughed at my Haiti/condom joke.
My favorite name of the night, and maybe of all-time, were my peeps Back Dat Ass Up With the Resurrection. It never hurts to bribe the host with a Jager shot, so keep plugging away.
I had a great time, I hope you had a great time…we’ll see you next week!

A battle until the end!
The Spooning Leads to Forking came in late, but dominated the competition, winning all but the first round (tie-breaker heartbreak). But, most impressive was All I Need is Beer, who put up a massive fight, all by his lonesome.
Count Choculitus will be back for their normal domination, but it just wasn’t their night. The Hustlers were around in force, but could not come up with enough muster to keep their first round momentum going.
It was great to see new regulars, George Glass, put up the valient fight. They arrived late, but still made people sweat.
Swiss Miss, you will have your day.
