Ginn Mill - Rockies don’t rock, but we do April 7, 2008
Posted by buzzwordz in Denver, Ginn Mill, Tobin Hays.add a comment
It started out as a post-Rockies drunk-fest, but as the room cleared of some *ahem* vertically challenged folks, we got our trivia off with a bang.
It was the night of debate, apologies, and cursing at Jem (she truly is outrageous). But when it was all said and done, there were no hurt feelings, the tears were dobbed away, and everyone had a good time.
I forgot to take pictures, and I’m not good at drawing a descriptive photo, so you’ll just have to trust me that there were a ton of people there, they all looked like supermodels (male and female), and every hot chick in the place was hanging all over me.
OK, back to reality.
Who Killed Spartacus had the name of the night, but were frustrated in round 2. They still pulled in a nice score, and it’s always good to buy shots to drown sorrows. WTF Is Wrong With Matt, minus Matt for the second half, had an evening of banging their heads against the table, which is always a good sign for a trivia writer.
The spoils went to The Tools of Love for round one, who double as both trivia players and tax advisors. Sataharu Oh swung for the fences and missed first place by just one point! Great showing, guys! Yard Sale was as consistent as ever, winning round 3 and the overall game…consistency pays off.
We count down “The End Of Josh,” and we’ll see if Yard Sale can keep up the pace without their all-star. Should be interesting.
Thank you everyone for dodging the ping-pong balls, the drunkened masses, and the great biology debate for a great night. See you next week!
Ginn Mill - Lights! Camera! Action! March 17, 2008

WOW!!! All I have to say is WOW!!! It came from humble beginnings… A young Texas transplant with a dream of bringing semi-hot nerdy-ness together with copious amounts of alcohol… A desire to create Denver’s ‘Trivia Empire’… A laptop, a business license and the power of Wikipedia at his fingertips…. Sunday night, it felt like many things came together as Buzzwordz shot a promotional marketing video at one of Denver’s hottest new spots, The Ginn Mill.
A thousand thank you’s go out to everyone who has made time in their lives to support Buzzwordz. I know I felt proud to be part of a Revolution Sunday night; I hope you did too!

The studio lights weren’t the only bright thing at the Ginn Mill that night. Eight ferocious teams went head-to-head against a marvelous set of questions. It was another tight race the whole game but in the end, only three teams could be victorious… A huge pat on the back to Green Peas, Team Tavern, and Take a Name for their valiant efforts! One of my all-time favorite teams, Doom Theatre (who have made an alliance with another one of my favorite teams, Trashcat) A-L-M-O-S-T edged into rank this week. I AM FEELING IT FOR YOU NEXT WEEK!!
As for TOP DAWGS: Yard Sale, (knocked off the #1 spot!!!) came in 3rd…
Client #9 (if you don’t get it, START PAYING ATTENTION!) in 2nd…
…and Wu Tang (reunited at last!) took the #1 Top Spot!
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next week! See you there!
XOXO

Ginn Mill - The importance of the Tie-breaker March 9, 2008
Posted by buzzwordz in Denver, Ginn Mill, Kyle Naylor.add a comment
It couldn’t have been a closer game tonight…. The final outcome for over half of our teams was decided by the last Tie-breaker of the game. Each round also saw Tie-breaker action which proved to us how important every question on the game is.

Teams hard at work
Yard Sale again tasted the sweet flavor of victory in the form of ANTHER 1st place win. We need someone to step up and take this BAMF Dynasty DOWN once and for all!! Trashcat tried with all their might to pick up one in the W column but saw demise in the ending Tie-breaker action. Next week, right! Doom Theatre picked up 3rd and some bar shwag and Public Enemy had what it took to make to 2nd!

King Prawns
WE ARE STARTING AT 7:00 p.m. NEXT WEEK DUE TO THE ST. PATTY’S HOLIDAY!!!! Please try to make it out since we will be shooting a marketing video next week as we continue to grow Buzzwordz into a TRIVIA EMPIRE! Can’t wait to see you there!
XOXO

Ginn Mill - A RECORD-setting evening! March 2, 2008
Posted by buzzwordz in Denver, Ginn Mill, Kyle Naylor.add a comment
Play started tonight with everything seemingly standard…. NWA, the house team, stationed at the corner of the bar in their regular spot, Trashcat and Doom Theatre engaged in some simple merger talks to maximize their resources to try to topple the top dogs, and Yard Sale was gathered around their usual stomping grounds, relaxed as ever coming off a few weeks on #1 showings.
As the night continued, things didn’t look good for our champs, loosing the first round by a small margin. ‘This could be the night that Rome falls,’ the other teams wondered. Throughout the second round play was too close to call. Lots of teams had impressive showings. Alas, Yard Sale wound up winning Round 2 by the skin of their teeth.
Round 3 was INCREDIBLE!!! More than half our teams scored over 20 pts for the round and no one knew who would take it… Your Mom joined us late and came in last simply due to the amount of questions missed (we start @ 7:30p, folks!). NWA and Trashcat played off in a final Tie-breaker question and NWA came within 7 games of the correct answer!
Once the dust settled, Trashcat came in 3rd, NWA took 2nd and the newly-named B.A.M.F. Dynasty, the Yard Sale, was victorious again! Come join us next week and take down this Dynasty!!!

The great “axe wound” was the theme of the night after our Godfather question…. Nice work, Dartmouth. I hope you liked you warm well vodka shot! Next time, we’re enforcing the warm gin rule.
The play was fierce tonight! The Oscars kept us entertained throughout the night, but Kodak Theater wasn’t the only place with big winners tonight. Supreme Goddess, Devil Dawg and Captain Bobby brought home 3rd, Fire Drill in 2nd and the MF-in’ Yardsale came in 1st AGAIN! Welcome back Josh.
See you messes next week!

It was another stellar night here at Ginn Mill with Buzzwordz drawing a great crowd for a game full of ups and downs! Congrats to our boy Josh from Yard Sale getting into Duke Law (as a back-up!). Josh is a power player on the team but it seems he was here in spirit… Yard Sale scored a whopping 44 overall in his absence. WOW!!
The results: The Baddies (formerly B&A, the house team) rallied late to make 3rd, Doom Theatre is back in a money slot coming in 2nd and of course, Yard Sale took home the cake! We miss ya Josh… kinda. LOL
See ya next week!

Well, it used to be the house was the team to topple, but it appears there’s a new sheriff in town… We will be back in two weeks (off for Superbowl Sunday) to see if anyone can off our new reigning champs!
The results: Trashcat landing 3rd, The Tom Brady Bunch in 2nd and Yard Sale (pronounced with a true New England accent) triumphs again. SOMEONE COME CHALLENGE THESE GUYS!!!
See you post-Superbowl!!

As a Bears fan, I probably shouldn’t comment on my feelings on the results of the OT victory of the NY Giants this Sunday at the Ginn Mill before trivia. We rolled out the new layout this week and boy, HOW AWESOME IS THIS!
Thanks to all those who came for trivia! The results: Trashcat rocked into 3rd (again), The Lorax in 2nd and Yard Sale reclaiming their 1st Place title! WOO HOO!
See you sexy boys and girls next week!

Another great set of trivia with TONS of recurring faces. It’s so great to feel the love from all you cats. This block of Larimer is where it’s at in this town and Buzzwordz is right up in the action!
The results! Trashcat, 3rd place again. Next week, I’m feelin’ your victory! King Prawns grabbed 2nd and The Lee Marvin Gardens, last week’s J-train, grabbed 1st again. PLEASE, CAN SOMEONE KNOCK THESE GUYS OUT OF 1st?! (Love you guys!)
See you next week!

This is why you can’t miss trivia @ the Ginn Mill. It came down to the wire between two teams and in this house, we do a little thing called Barrel Pong to break the ties. You’ve heard of beer pong, but until you play it on Ginn Mill’s barrel to break trivia, it’s like you have never played it!
The Results: Trashcat taking 3rd, Yardsale in 2nd and The J-train bouncin’ their way into first! Make sure you stay late next week for some mad dice games too!

The pre-NYE crowd was out and ready to go! Thanks to Bob and Andrea for another great night of fun! If you have never done Ginn Mill before, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! It is one on the best times you will have in the town, hands down.
My King Prawns came in 3rd, A-Team rocked 2nd and 5 Vorpal Blade of Jabberwock Slaying (a Star Wars thing) flew into 1st! Stay tuned for more trivia updates.

WOO HOO!! Another amazing night of triv at the ol’ Ginn Mill. Make sure you check out the current MIle High Sports Magazing for a TWO-PAGE spread featuring the Denver’s hottest new bar!
Only three teams could emerge victorious. Zach is Drunk rallied at the end to place 3rd, Jam Out with Your Clam Out! slid in nice and slow to 2nd (eww!) and Trashcat (finally amused) ROCKIN’ their way into 1st!!!
See you next week!!

Our second week at the Ginn Mill was another GREAT SUCCESS!!! Bob and Andrea (if you don’t know them by name, you will soon) have made this night so much fun! The biggest of thanks to you both.
Also this week, for the first time(…. EVER!!!) the King Prawns did not make an appearance at one on my shows. I have to admit, I always knew this day would come but it is still a shocker… I know you will be back in force next week to dominate the competition!
It was a fight til the end on this run. We finished with Dumber than a Bag of Hammers in 3rd, Astronaut Love Triangle in 2nd and Doom Theatre landing the second-ever slot on the Buzzwordz Bucket of Brilliance!!!
See you all again next week for another round!!
XOXO
