After a dip in performance last week BASTARD CHILDREN OF WILLIAM BUCKLEY regained their crown Thursday evening in a well attended meeting of the minds at Cap City Tavern.
Newcomers ATA started off slowly, called their smartest homies down to the bar for rounds 2 and 3 and ended off in 2nd place for their efforts. Dodgeball cross-trainers 1 2 THE FACE, also flexed their brains rounding out the money round. If these guys could put three rounds together they might prove serious contenders for the champs.Team ODD PANDA barely missed out on some loot. Rounding out the list of Buzzwordz jugadores were the GOOGLEYMOOGLEYS, LISALUV, ROCKETS, AND BJ AND THE BLOWJOB.
Come check us out Thursday nights at 7:30 for $2 Springboard pints and the most intellectually stimulating evening of boozing to be had in Denver.

Team Accidental Goat Sodomy knocked long-time champs Bastard Children off their roost Thursday night at Cap City. We had a great turnout with 7 teams completing and over 25 trivia masters mixing it up. Team M&M who just happened by Cap City, had a stunning debut coming in third. House regulars Butt-Touchers flexed their mental muscles and won 2nd place for their efforts.
Special Note: Team Bastard Children sat out the first part of the game. The y might have underestimated the competition, but they’ve assured me they’ll be back to full strenght next week. See you at 7:30 at Cap City!

These guys are that good. Thursday at Cap City The Bastard Children dynasty put another feather in their cap with yet another commanding performance. I’m talking 12 points on the closest competitor. We had 5 strong team competing with a couple of dodge-ballers showing colors. Third place was won by the all female “Team Meow” (a rarity in the trivia world). Be sure to check out Buzzwordz every Thursday!

Maybe last week’s nail-biting loss was all the Bastard Children of Bobby Fischer (No Heath Ledger?) needed to get back on the top of the table. They were back to their soul-crushing best Thursday night as they smoked all comers. We had a pretty strong game all in all with 8 teams representing. New team “Shave Lopez” came in 2nd in their Buzzwordz debut. The Shavers are two fake sport athletes, they visited Cap City after a successful night on the dodgeball court. Coming in third we had one man team Todd earning his drinks Thursday. Keep checking the blog true-believers, things are getting interesting at Cap City. Peace in the Middle East!
Cap City - Wombats Usurp Dynasty January 20, 2008

The Wombats, a team comprised of Australians, a Chiropractor, and a JAG Attorney finally knocked off long time champions, The Bastard Children of Wham-O this past Thursday at Cap City Tavern. In the end it was only two points, and the Wombats might have been lucky with question selection, but after 7(!) weeks we have a new champion to add to the storied list of braniacs on the Bucket of Brilliance. The Bastards in a touching display of class and sportsmanship went out of their way to congratulate the new champs. It’s like my old coach used to tell us “competition doesn’t build character, it reveals it”. The Bastards are nothing if not classy, I’m sure they’ll show up next week with another ferocious campaign on the title.

In 2008’s first game The Bastards held on by one point to beat teams “Adam” and “Team Triers”. Thursday night at Cap City had near record attendance due to the KU bowl game and the Obama ‘08 staffers both meeting at the Golden Triangle’s hottest spot. Although the battle-hardened champions did maintain their Patriots-like record, special mention must be given to Team Adam who had maybe the most crackerjack third round performance of al-time. In their third week of playing Buzzwordz Trivia., Team Trier have proven they’re a well-balanced outfit. Project Mayhem came in 1st for blood alcohol level.

The “Bastard Children of Ike Turner” had another stand-out performance Thursday evening all the while paying respects to the iconic recently fallen woman-beater. The Bastard Children typically choose a recently deceased celebrity as the last part of their name and while they celebrities keep on kicking it, I just don’t see these guys losing. Their offense is impetuous and their defense is impregnable. Praise to Allah! Also special mention should be given to the 2nd place couple B2’s. The third place team didn’t even play the first round. DATD we look forward to seeing you next week at Buzzwordz Trivia for $2 pints of Flying Dog.
Two in a Row for The Bastards December 9, 2007

“The Bastard Children of Evel Knievel” made it two in a row Thursday evening at Cap City. Out of the eight teams Los Bastardos took the brass ring and claimed the Bucket of Brilliance as their own with another clinical display of their intellectual acumen. Rounding out the top of the table was “Kneel Before Us” and AKA ( not the traditionally African-American sorority). Badgers had a lights out 1st round where they got every possible question correct. Also Team Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin, screwed up the only Journey question. New this week, Buzzwordz is proud to announce Flying Dog Brewery offering $2 pints Thursdays!

Sometimes these games come down to who gets luckier or what questions fall into a player’s area of expertise. Not Thursday! Although 5 other teams competed it was always a two-horse race between major league braniacs ,the Team of Destiny and The Bastard Children of Norman Mailer. TOD had played two weeks before and despite missing the entire first round, took home 2nd place. Bastard Children are a well-balanced 6-person team comprised of school teachers that have always performed well. With two such high-powered squads, Thursday’s game promised to be a cracker! Well when the smoke finally cleared the Bastard Kids pulled through by one point! The 4 Q’s of the Hollywood walk of fame proved to be the final stumbling block for the Team of Destiny. They vowed revenge and set their sights on this week. Come by Cap City Thursday evening at 7:30 and watch the sparks fly.

We had Gabe, a newcomer champion that played under the name of Tripod(an obvious photography enthusiast). Check us out every Thursday evening after 7:00 PM. Free toplay, free drinks, you can’t go wrong!

Team Bar None held on by just one point to claim 1st place at last night’s Buzzwordz Trivia Game at Cap City. The four person team comprised of mostly women (a rarity in pub trivia) began with a commanding performance in the first two rounds and barely held off the very well-rounded Shortbus. Big ups to Richard who despite playing by himself came in a close third.

When the smoke finally cleared it was the Fighting Meerkats on top of Thurday’s game at Cap City. It was practically a Who’s Who of past champions with no less than 6 out of the 10 teams playing being previous victors. Come by and check us out every Thursday at 7:00 PM with ganster specials on Bud and Bud Light Cap City can’t be beat!

Despite a commanding first and second performance, “Jane Wyman’s Bastard Children” knocked out local heavyweights “Team Wildcard” in the final tie-breaker of the night. No one thought that the home team could be touched, but good guessing helped the upstarts to victory. Big ups to third place “Team Linda” for not only coming in third, but for misspelling Titicaca but getting the spelling for both “Titty” and “Kaka” correct! See you next time Cap City.

Well, my first experinece at Cap City (after all the crazy set-up) was pretty cool. Thanks to the 11 teams that played through the night. A big shout out to Kate and Brian for keeping everyone’s drinks full all night long. I guess you can’t go wrong with $8 Bud and Bud Light pitchers.
Now, just for informational purposes, Senator Osama does not have a father from Kenya, Diet Coke and Diet Sprite were not the “brands” introduced by Coca-Cola, and when in doubt over a name just guess Billy, it might earn you a free drink. I’m also pretty sure that with my comments on guys, chicks and old people I was able to rip on everyone at least once.
On to the scores… Vince A gets negative credit for being there the whole night but only playing the second half of the game (if you guys had started earlier you probably would have won a prize). Team Mulva needs to stop listening to the peanut gallery and go with your own instincts (or get them on your team). The M & M’s hard on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside, made sure I was amused all night long. The Liar Heads gave their regular good effort. The top five was a close race, but Circle Jerks and Bushwacked just missed the prizes.
The top three (and winners of bar gift certificates) finished like this: in third was Lisa Lov artificial hip and all, in second was Goin To Daytona even giving her certificate to her friends as she won’t be here next week, and in first, taking all three rounds (although two in tie-breakers) were The Bastard Children of Luciano Pavarotti.
Thanks to everyone who played, Matt should be back next week.

“Let’s have a couple of pints after work,” it all began innocently enough for team BSLP. Unfortunately for their wives and significant others, this team of newcomers just kept on winning, shading local heavy hitters Team Chuckles. Check out the Golden Triangle’s hottest bar, Cap City every Thursday at 7:00 for Buzzwordz Trivia.

Team Melanoma, made up entirely of tanned teachers scored a dramatic third round victory Thursday night at Cap City Tavern. Although they were in 4th place at the beginning of the final round, a near perfect closing performance ensured them a well deserved victory. If there is anything that they taught us it was to never give up and when in doubt, guess!

The Texas A&M Alumni Aggies blew away all other competitors Thursday night at Cap City. The All-Staff team was nothing to sneeze at posting 41 points, but the College Station Old Boys played close to a perfect game. Special mention goes out to the two-person team Rigmas (check Saved By the Bell) who made an impressive debut. Check us at Cap City, the Golden Triangle’s hottest bar every Thursday at 7:00!

The Flip Dubs hit the ground running and never looked back Thursday night at Cap City. Team’s Mandy’s Screwing Me and the Naughty Nurses both fared well in their Cap City debut, but the combined age of 235 years proved too much wisdom for the upstarts. Come by next Thursday for $8 pitcher of Bud and Bud Lite!-MC Matt
