Bowling and Trivia, the Perfect Combination? May 31, 2009

Well, I was a doofus and forgot my camera, so taking a page from Barb’s book, I’ve included pics for each of the teams.
Pin Pals is actually a drawing by the one of the ladies in the group (2nd pin from the left). They showed up late to round 1 because they were bowling, hence the name. When they showed up during the 8th question, they finished the round without missing (still only 4 points), but no one knew that this was a precursor for the rest of the evening… they would win big.
But for round 1, we started with 11 teams, and except for Beer Neighbors and Hello Kitty, everyone there was battling for top spot.
Van Railin’ would take round 1 by 1/2 point. With WASP + J, Sampler Platter, and What’s Your Beef? just off pace. But it was too much competition for some: Joey is Ug, Better Than 1, Beer Neighbors and Hello Kitty dropped out before round 2.
As indicated earlier, Pin Pals won round 2 by a good margin, making up for missing some of round 1. The six remaining teams were all within 2.5 points of each other, with Sampler Platter and Van Railin’ leading the way.
So heading into round 3, vying for top points for the evening, we had all teams clustered within 4 points of each other… it was going to be a close one!
The Bonus Beer Question through everyone off, but It’s Just A Flesh Wound was closest.
So for round 3?…
What’s Your Beef? started strong but couldn’t maintain momentum. Yes, That, Sampler Platter and WASP + J had great 2nd rounds but struggled in round 3. Clint Hurdle’s New Job joined just for round 3, but the one man show wasn’t enough. Van Railin’ after first round success finished the following round and final points just out of scoring position.
So that left Flesh Wound and Pin Pals to duke it out. They were separated by just 1/2 point, and it was Pin Pals who took it. They also got top points for the evening but Flesh Wound’s 3rd round performance was strong enough to put them in the 2nd spot overall.
As usual, this night was a tough and competitive crowd with relatively few style points. WASP + J did supply 17 style points during the evening and I thank them for that!
so, we’ll see you all next week for another Battle Royale… maybe you should all go bowling first!
Ciao for now,
- Keith
