3 D*** in a Chick - too much brain power, not enough beer!

Freud's New Stage - I didn't know Freud built a new stage

Some of KISS Destroyers & Dead Kennedys, an unruly bunch

Felix - as in the cat? or Unger?

Bannon - we all love Sherry too!

Baluga - style point queens

Chicken N 40 - it's all downhill from here

MT - mucho thirsty

Gators - Sherry-baby and her entourage
Well, management and servers were complaining about how dead it has been when I walked in. And since we cancelled the week prior due to NCAA games, we weren’t sure what to expect. But when 9 o’clock rolled around, the people started rolling in.
We started with 12 teams and added more for round 2.
Round 1 was pretty tough, with the highest point total being 7.5 – which was shared by Team 1234 and Freud’s New Stage. Freud won the tie-break. But a slew of teams were hanging on their heels, which included 3 Dicks in a Chick, Chicken N 40, Renobs, Team IRL, Felix, and Dead Kennedys.
We lost Beer Me! and Dead Kennedy’s after round 1 but added Team Us, MT, Bannon, and Baluga.
After the tough first round, everyone was expecting it to get tougher, but a few teams broke away from the pack. 3 Dicks in a Chick won by an unheard of margin of 3.5 points. Felix was 2nd with Freud, 1234, Renobs and Us close behind.
By round 2, everyone was getting the hang of the style points. I don’t remember ever giving out as many as I did last night. Thanks to Gators, Renobs, Team AJK, Team Us, and Baluga for showing their stylish sides!
Baluga also nabbed the Bonus Beer Question, to their delight.
For round 3, it was a question of whether anyone could catch 3D in a C. And Team IRL did, tieing them for the last round, and IRL winning the tie-break. IRL (who would not allow their picture to be taken) just kept improving round after round and had a prize to take home because of it. Of course, Freud and Felix were close behind.
So the last round saw some who were just too far behind leave a bit early to see how things finished. But the final tallies for the evening left 3D in a C in first, Felix in 2nd (both prize winners), and just out of scoring range were Freud and IRL.
All in all, a great and funny crowd. And the management and servers all thank you for coming out to play… and drink… and so do I!
Ciao for now,
- Keith
Tuesdays at The Glenn with Preacher March 28, 2009

This Tuesday at the Glenn 10 teams tested their cognative might under the heavy influence of alcohol. Round 1 and the fied devided up quickly with 2 teams clearly dominating by mid round. FOP, The Who and Gods of Wrong Answers both with perfect scores battled it out until the very end, but a singe error by two of the teams left Gods of Wrong Answers with a perfect round and the win. Round 2 and this time it’s not so easy. Debi’s Team and Very Madd Dawg joined us a little late, and teams In Yo Face Suka Head, Car Ramrod, and Rock Stars kept up with the round leaders. After the final question 3 teams tied for second place, but there can be only one and this round it was The Who taking it down. Round 3 and the heat is on. With every team playing for the gold, and the scores going back and forth all round, the winner and still champion, The Who strode into the finish.
Sparklemotion Outshines the Rest at City Pub March 27, 2009

Team Sparklemotion, who were unlucky in the past two weeks not to have left with a prize smoked the competion Wednesday night at City Pub. They scored early and often and never looked back on their way to trivia dominance.
After a slight dip in attendance after St. Pat’s, things were back to our brainteasing best. With our month anniversary at City Pub the regulars are starting to make their presence known. Last week’s champion, McDrunken fell to 2nd while Sotally Tober came in third. The Snyder’s didn’t make it, but had a good time. Huskie Orange does great for a two person team, but when you’re competing against 6 it’s a hard road to hoe. J&D were new to trivia, and it showed. Team Stewie showed up out of nowhere, won round 2 then sunk back into the oblivion.
Join us next Wednesday at 8 for Denver’s premier trivia and best hamburgers collide!

There wasn’t very many teams this week at Ogden Street South, but there was a couple playing with us.
Studio 52 hasn’t won in a few months, but they were able to get two points ahead of the rest and win the prize.
I never really know what their name means, but they were back after recovering from their St Patty’s hangover. STML was back in the game this week. They are tough to capture in a photo, cause they’re out smoking during the breaks.
The Wombats were a new team this week. They would have been second place if I had one.
Plaid Wolfe nee VPM started a little bit late, but were able to fare pretty well in the game. Thanks for joining us!

they didn't play this week, but when they played, my camera was broken.
That was our game this week. See you next week!!

The passing of a trivia player March 26, 2009

Marci recently posted about the passing of one of our trivia players, and I wanted to add to it.
I have said this before, but it bears repeating: Charlie’s has been one of the greatest supporters of Buzzwordz Trivia, and we will never forget that. When one of our regular players encounters a tragedy, it affects every employee of the Buzzwordz company, directly or indirectly. This is the second passing of a primary supporter of our company, and it is….well, to put it bluntly, fucking tough.
Not only do our locations and players help pay the mortgage, feed the dog, and put food on the table, they make our lives more enjoyable. We look forward to hosting trivia each week to see our returning players: to chat with them, to catch up on their lives, and to entertain them in our own little way.
While weekly trivia could be dismissed as a simple piece of entertainment, all of our employees take their “fun” job very seriously. Every comment, complaint, and compliment is taken to heart, and we are in constant “improvement” mode.
Marci said that Charlie’s was like family to her. I will say that Charlie’s, and all of its players, employees, and owners are in a family of Buzzwordz. Their customers are our customers, and our thoughts are with their thoughts.
We all appreciate Chrome, and we appreciate every single one of our other players. I’m deeply saddened by his passing, and have the deepest thoughts for all of our customers.
We Love You Chrome, and Will NEVER Forget You!! March 25, 2009

This week is going to be more of a ranting blog than most of the Charlie’s blogs. I want to start the blog by commending the family atmosphere that Charlie’s has. It’s so much more than just a local bar. It’s really a family to many people. I’ve been hosting there for 10 months, and it’s really a family to me. If you’ve never been to Charlie’s on a holiday, they bring out all the goods. They serve up a buffet meal to all of their regulars and even throw down the tablecloths.
With all of that being said, the loss of a Charlie’s family member really hit everybody. The Charlie’s family was seated in the bar since around 9am, a few hours before their normal opening. They were holding vigil and supporting eachother. Many of them took the day off from work due their sadness and grief. The loss of Chrome is the loss of part of Charlie’s. While he is gone, he will not be forgotten.

this was my very first night hosting solo at Charlie's. There are other pictures, but one was kinda riske
Despite the sadness and tears, we were able to give eachother a couple of big bear hugs and continue with the party. And boy, did we play a pretty competitive game to distract ourselves.
They haven’t won first place lately, but Alleycat was back in the game this week. I’m going to say it’s due to Jake not sneaking off this week. One of the boys was ahem, a lady tonight. Sorry I didn’t have time to say hi, Brandon.
The Hot Messes won second place this week. Scott had recruited some new folks to play with him, and they seemed to be helpful.
Third place was all That Team. Half of the team left due to sadness and tears, but their team fared well without them.
We had lots of other teams that played:
Erebus says that he wants me to get naked for my anniversary party. Uh, not so sure about that one, but good try. He used his marriage as an excuse that he likes women as well as men. Hmmm…
Oh they were back this week, but a couple of ‘em bugged out early. And no, all those folks didn’t play on Royal, cause then they’d be breaking the rules.
Oh you’re so smart, cause you Kick Ass. It was mainly just Zack and Jen, but they had a couple others throw in some answers with them for a little bit.
I got Ben to admit that they’re actually not all related. But Phyllis and Sons was back in the game this week. I’m wondering if they were a little bit earlier than usual. I didn’t Ben to see if he was staying the whole game this week. (Sorry, the place just got too crazy!)
Jason was in town, but I couldn’t convince JT to play the whole game. They were good for some hugs, but really just not able to pay attention to myself on the microphone.
He answered just a few questions and then Will Speer disappeared. I didn’t get to ask him if the street was named after him or not.
He didn’t follow me around, but he still called himself Shadow. He played two rounds of trivia tonight.
They didn’t look too scary and not nearly as hairy. Grizzly played the last two rounds of the game.
Well along the lines of hairy, we’ve got Boys for Bananas. They weren’t shaped like apes or monkeys or anything.
I will see you guys next week, if not sooner!
Much love!!!
<3 Marci

There was a 3-way tie for third place in round 3–good job Dave for being one of the 3.
