A great turnout this week at The Glenn in Northglenn with 8 teams competing for the title this Tuesday including classics like Mad Dog and Gods of Wrong Answers as well as some newcomers Destructo Crew and Grommet from the fabulous patio area. The Glenn was indeed a packed house with no parking left and a full patio, my beautiful voice could barely carry above the bar noise, but that’s what we have the TV’s for and though the Patio players had to come in and take a look for the Round 1 Ameli question, they were otherwise unfettered and enjoyed both trivia and some nice weather. The close round 1 score finished with God’s of Wrong Answers inching out the competition with a 1 point win (even though they didn’t know the Rugrats twins Phil and Lil, honestly what kind of childhood did they have?) their knowledge on practically everything else, as always, awarded them the win.

Round 2 started with a question about a bad mother ::shut yo mouth!::, but I’m just talking about Shaft, which almost everyone answered correctly. As a side note, I have met the real Chef at CU Boulder, and it makes the cartoons all the more enjoyable. Micheal Phelp just happen to be on the TV when the question was read, but I don’t think they mentioned the stats, so it ended up just being cosmic coincidence with no bearing on the game (though I did pause to rewatch the AMAZING win by the Americans in the Men’s 100 meter relay over the French). Gods of Wrong Answers pulled ahead early in the round with a perfect 2 point answer for Hunter S Thompson, but then promptly lost it, missing the alcohol question that followed (go figure right?). Now in a dead heat, teams Gods of Wrong Answers, BAM, Drunk Again, FOP, and Grommet battled it out for supremacy. With another close round even as we reached the finish, team FOP on the strength of a “Something About Mary” question and following up with their knowledge of fine gemstones wins the round.

Round 3 and team FOP got off to an early lead with team Mad Dog in close pursuit. By midway little had changed with FOP leading Mad Dog by a single point and all other teams trailing by less than 4. However in a stunning upset, Gods of Wrong Answers came from behind and secured their win with the 4 C’s (including Carrot apparently, but, I don’t take off for spelling, so I still gave it to them).

Congratulations to all the teams that played this week. We had a fabulous time and I hope to see you all again next Tuesday!

Star Wars Fact of the Day: The first trailer for the film hit cinemas six months before it was to open – with tag lines such as “the story of a boy, a girl and a universe” and “a billion years in the making” – as executives hoped to drum up some interest in a film they had little faith in.

Signing off, this is Preacher.
